Frequently Asked Questions
About the Service
What is YourHeartCheck?
YourHeartCheck is a clinical-grade, at-home Holter monitoring service. You wear a lightweight ECG recording device for up to three days, return it by post, and receive a detailed heart health report within seven days — all without leaving home or waiting for an NHS referral.
Who is YourHeartCheck for?
The service is for anyone who:
- Experiences unexplained palpitations, fluttering, or an irregular heartbeat
- Has intermittent symptoms that were not captured during a brief GP appointment
- Has received an abnormal ECG result and wants further clarity
- Has a family history of heart conditions such as high blood pressure or atrial fibrillation
- Wants proactive heart health monitoring without waiting for an NHS referral
- Has a known condition (e.g. atrial fibrillation) and wants ongoing monitoring
Is this the same as an NHS Holter monitor?
The ECG analysis behind YourHeartCheck is performed by the same CQC-registered service used by the NHS, meaning the clinical quality is equivalent. The difference is speed and convenience — NHS Holter referrals can involve long waits, whereas YourHeartCheck delivers results within seven days of returning your device, with no GP referral required.
Is this a regulated medical service?
Yes. The ECG analysis service is fully regulated and accredited:
- Care Quality Commission registered and inspected (CQC reference: 1-2159303816)
- NHS Digital approved — DTAC and DCB0129 for Clinical Safety
- NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (reference: 8HR58)
- NHS Health and Social Care Network approved and connected
- NHS Mail approved and connected
- NHS e-Referral provider
- UKAS ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management)
- UKAS ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management)
- Cyber Essentials Plus
- CPD accredited user training
How much does it cost?
The service costs £299. No VAT is charged — the service is exempt as a medical service under Group 7 of Schedule 9 to the Value Added Tax Act 1994. To place an order, create a free account at app.yourheartcheck.com.

How quickly will I receive the device?
The device is dispatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery and typically arrives the next working day after dispatch.
What is in the box?
Your delivery will contain:
- The pre-assembled Holter monitoring device
- Two self-adhesive electrodes
- Step-by-step fitting instructions
- A patient diary for recording any symptoms you experience
- A prepaid returns envelope for sending the device back
Can I cancel my order?
You may cancel at no charge within 24 hours of placing your order, provided the device has not yet been dispatched. Once the device has been dispatched, the supply of services has commenced at your request and your statutory right to cancel is lost under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. To cancel before dispatch, contact support@yourheartcheck.com as soon as possible.
ℹ If YourHeartCheck cancels your booking for any reason within our control, you will receive a full refund of any sums paid, processed within 14 calendar days. See clause 6 of the Terms and Conditions for full details.
Wearing the Device
How do I set up and start the device?
Attach the two self-adhesive electrodes on either side of your sternum (breastbone) as shown in the instructions. Connect the device, then press and hold the button for five seconds. The device will beep to confirm recording has started. There is nothing further to configure.
ℹ If you have a particularly hairy chest, you may need to shave a small area where each electrode is applied to ensure a reliable contact.
How long do I wear it?
You wear the device continuously for up to three days (72 hours). The longer you wear it, the greater the chance of capturing any intermittent symptoms.
Can I shower or bathe while wearing it?
You can shower while wearing the device. However, avoid pointing the shower head directly at it. You cannot wear the device in the bath, and it must not be submerged in water.
Can I carry on with normal daily activities?
Yes — the device is designed to record your heart during your normal day. Everyday activities, light exercise, sleep, and work are all fine. Use the patient diary provided to note any symptoms, activities, or events you experience so these can be correlated with your ECG trace.
Returning the Device
How do I return the device?
After three days, remove the device and place it in the prepaid returns envelope included in your box. Take the envelope to a Post Office counter (not a postbox) and ask them to register the return. Keep your proof-of-postage receipt.
What happens if I do not return the device on time?
If the device has not been received within 14 calendar days of dispatch, we will contact you with a reminder. If it is not returned within 28 calendar days, you will be invoiced for the replacement cost of the device. If you subsequently return the device in satisfactory condition, the replacement cost will be refunded less any reasonable administration charges. If you have any difficulty returning the device, contact support@yourheartcheck.com as soon as possible.
Analysis & Results
How is my ECG analysed?
Once the device is received, your ECG data is processed through the Philips Cardiologs algorithm — one of the most widely used clinical ECG analysis systems in the world. The algorithmic findings are then reviewed by a human electrophysiologist (a cardiologist specialising in heart rhythm), who produces your final report. This two-stage process — AI plus human expert — ensures both thoroughness and clinical accuracy.
When will I receive my results?
Your report will be uploaded to your secure client area within seven calendar days of us receiving your returned device, provided the device contains usable ECG data.
What does my report include?
Your report covers three areas:
- ECG Report — A detailed analysis of your heart rhythm across the full monitoring period, identifying any arrhythmias, palpitations, pauses, tachycardia, bradycardia, atrial fibrillation, ventricular fibrillation, or other abnormalities. Written in plain English with a clear outcome rating (see below).
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — Calculated using a specialist third-party algorithm, HRV reflects how well your autonomic nervous system is adapting to stress, exertion, and recovery. It is a well-established marker of cardiovascular health and resilience.
- Blood Pressure Index (BPI) — A proprietary metric unique to YourHeartCheck. Using machine learning, the BPI estimates how your blood pressure rises and falls throughout the monitoring period, mapped against the natural circadian rhythm of blood pressure the body follows across the day.
How do I interpret my ECG outcome rating?
Your ECG report will carry one of three outcome ratings:
- Green — No heart rhythm abnormalities were detected during the monitoring period.
- Green / Yellow — Some abnormal beats were detected. These may be benign, but the report will describe what was found.
- Amber — Abnormalities were detected; the type, frequency, and potential clinical significance are described in detail.
ℹ Regardless of your result colour, we recommend downloading the PDF of your ECG report and sharing it with your GP or cardiologist. These ratings are for guidance only and do not constitute a clinical diagnosis.
How long are my results available to download?
Your report and associated personal data are stored securely in your client area for 180 days (six months) from the date the report is uploaded. After this period, all personal data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems in accordance with clause 7.4 of the Terms and Conditions.
⚠ Do not rely on the portal as your long-term health record. Download your PDF report as soon as it is available and save it to your own device. This deletion cannot be reversed.
ℹ The 180-day window begins on the date your report is uploaded to your client area — not the date you placed your order.
Can I share my results with my doctor?
Yes, and we actively encourage this. Your report is available as a downloadable PDF, formatted to be understood by both patients and clinicians. Your GP or cardiologist can use it to guide further investigation or treatment.
How often should I repeat the test?
If your ECG report shows any abnormalities, we recommend repeating the test every three months to monitor changes over time. Your clinician may advise a different frequency based on your specific situation.
